Found a colour you love? Send Blade the screenshot (a picture of your screen) with the colour’s name, so he knows exactly what you’re after.

Or send Blade a text.

How it works

Three steps. No guesswork.

  1. Send Blade a message

WhatsApp, a text, or the message form on this site. A rough idea and a few photos is fine.

  2. He comes to look

Blade sees the job in person and tells you what it needs: the prep, the paint, the coats and how long. Written quotes on request.

  3. Painted, tidied, walked round

Floors and furniture covered from start to finish. Before it’s called done, you walk round it together in good light.

Any change is agreed first. If something hidden turns up, like a second layer of wallpaper, Blade tells you and you agree any change before more work is done.

Who does the work

The man you message is the man who paints.

Blade Decor is Blade: a one-person painting and decorating business in Stoke-on-Trent, trading since 1997. No sales team and no strangers turning up. The decorator who looks at your job is the one who preps it, paints it and walks round it with you at the end.

Cost

What does decorating cost?

Every job is priced after a look at it: size, the state of the walls and how much prep it needs all change the number. For a rough idea, here’s what UK decorators typically charge.

  • Medium room, walls and ceilingAbout 2 days£250–£1,100

Questions

Good to know

When can you start?

Get in touch with roughly when you’d like it done. Good decorators are often booked a few weeks ahead, and spring and summer are busiest because of outside work.

How long does it take to paint a room?

As a guide, a small room takes one to two days and a larger room two to three, depending on preparation and how many coats are needed. Drying time between coats sets the pace. Blade will tell you how long it should take once he’s seen it.

What do I need to do before you arrive?

Clear small items, ornaments and anything valuable, and take pictures off the walls if you can. Larger furniture can be grouped in the middle of the room and covered.

Is the paint included in the price?

Ask Blade when he comes to look. Decorators usually either supply trade paint as part of the price or work with paint you’ve bought. Trade paint generally covers better and wipes cleaner than standard DIY-shop paint.

When do I pay?

When the job is finished and you’ve walked round it together, and anything that needs a touch-up has been done. Ask Blade how he takes payment.
